Super Blog Writer II Turbo Alpha Hyper Fighting Champion Edition

Hi, my name is Samuel, and I’m the newest writer in this neck of the woods.

My video game obsession started in 1992. Even though I had played a few games on a neighbor’s NES before then (Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, and Top Gun), 1992 is when I first had video games of my own. That Christmas I got a Sega Genesis, with the pack-in Sonic the Hedgehog. (My sister got a copy of The Little Mermaid for the Genesis, which I played more than her, too.) It was on that fateful day that I knew that, some day, I’d write for a small game-centric blog*. Shortly thereafter I got Sonic 2, and then many other games followed.

Possibly due to that early start, I’m very much a console gamer, usually eschewing the (often less expensive) PC version of a game in favor of the Xbox 360 version. (This may or may not be related to my addiction to Gamerscore points.) However, I will occasionally indulge in an FPS or MMO on my computer. I’ve been to PAX three times (2007, 2008, and 2009), so I hold the Kansas record for most PAXes attended**. I like to consider myself something of a video game historian, and I’m always interested in learning about the beginnings of the art.
